Booking Through Thursday: Current

btt button I haven't done this one in a few weeks, so here we go...

This week's Booking Through Thursday question is:

What are you reading right now? What made you choose it? Are you enjoying it? Would you recommend it? (And, by all means, discuss everything, if you’re reading more than one thing!)

My answer: I am reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Why? Well....my friend Meghan and I decided to start our own super mini book club to discuss books together. The first time we read......oh ya...a Fine Balance (sort of my choice), and then I asked her to pick the next book and she picked The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and I immediately agreed because I know so many people who have read it and loved it. So I am on page 131 (of 465) and I'm not loving it!! I am having a hard time getting into the stories and trouble connecting to any of the characters. I hope it gets better!!!

What are you reading? Do tell!!

  1. Stick with it. It took at least 100 pages for the story to really get moving, and while that is usually a deal breaker for me - I was glad I stuck with it in this case. Hopefully you will too!

  3. I am reading the Forgotten Garden and I am really enjoying this. I was thinking that I have read a few books lately that go between different time periods and unless you pay attention it could become difficult but I don't seem to have that problem with this book. I haven't figured out what the mystery is yet but I have my own thoughts about what it is. I am loving the mystery that involves a couple of generations trying to track down information!

  5. I just finished The Forgotten Garden (a present from Sara) and loved it! Sometimes I find it hard to really get into books that jump between characters and time periods, but it was fine with that one. Now I'm reading her first book, The House at Riverton.

  9. I'm reading "Secret Daughter" by Shilpa Gowda and I really like it so far. I was hoping it would become a future selection for our book club but I couldn't wait until then. It reminds me a little bit of "The Space Between Us". I have "The Forgotten Garden" and I almost picked up "House of Riverton". I also picked up a book called "New York" by Edmund Rutherfurd which is a historical fiction, and I'm enjoying that too. I have so many books from the library that I would like to read too.
