Booking Through Thursday: Cover
Question April 21, 2011: CAN you judge a book by its cover?
My answer: Well of course you CAN! Do you, or should you are completely different!!! I do judge books by their covers, especially if I am browsing at the book store (rather than online). If a cover catches my eye I will pick it up and look at the title and read the back blurb-yes I read the blurbs!! At the same time, if I don't like how a book looks, I may not pick it up. I think I am more intrigued or dissuaded from books based on their titles than any images. Should I? I may miss many good books this way, but I can't possibly read every single book, or even consider every (or even most) books that I see!
What about you?

I'm more about the blurbs than the cover. When I'm in a book shop I usually pick up books and read the blurb and don't even pay attentionn to the cover. Just because a book has a good cover does not mean I am going to like it.

I think it's a mixture of both blurbs and cover...If the cover is great I'll check out the blurb. If the blurb stinks...too bad for the book. It's not touching my shelf! :P Sometimes the blurb is great but the cover's pretty ugly!

I am definitely drawn in by the cover of the book. I have read some of my favourite books just because the cover drew my attention. Not that every book is like that but that's what gets my attention first.
ReplyDeleteIf you're really just talking about books, then definately judge by it's cover. If you're talking about people (because how often is THAT expression used?!) then definately not. There's much to be said for presentation of both though.
